Altruistic. It’s one of the characteristics I strive to posses and desire for others to see in me. No one is ever going to say that you are too kind, too caring, or too giving in life. Putting others first and spreading joy and love is what brings me true happiness.
When you are getting together with your ten girlfriends for brunch you do not mess around. I repeat, you do not mess around! Boring blueberry muffins or lackluster banana bread will simply not do. Brunch calls for a top-notch, indulgent, over the top treat. Apple Cinnamon Buns smothered in Cream Cheese Icing… ohh you better believe they are that treat.
You ever get pigeon holed to do a job after you did it successfully just once? I am so guilty of doing this to anyone who has helped me in the kitchen. If you did a good job with something once, you know I’m coming back to you with the same task again. It’s a compliment, it means I trust you. When my friend who squeezed 10 grapefruits for this (http://www.champagnefrosting.com/?p=1907) amazing cocktail asked what she could help with in the kitchen, she should have know that pile of limes on the counter was just waiting for her.
Cake is for celebrating friendship. Cake is for Mondays. Cake is for breakfast. Cake is for sharing. Cake is for bringing out smiles. Cake is for making your worries disappear. Cake… it’s not just for birthdays anymore.
Wait! Don’t leave! We’ll have cake next week. I promise. But right now we need a little health in our lives. Get out your weighs, go for a run, and lets do some planks. Or turn on the TV and come back next week and we’ll talk cake, but you’ll miss out on some killer pancakes. Believe it or not for someone with a blog all about dessert (and drinks) I actually consume way more kale and quinoa than cupcakes in my diet, though cupcakes always have their place. But today the star of the show is this seasons new ‘superfood’ Chia.
Back to school. Ohh the dread! Ohh the homework! The mean teachers. The sports double sessions. The early mornings. The long days. It happens every year at the end of August. And then I realize I don’t have to go back to school! I throw myself a little dance party and crack a beer, because my summer can keep on going until that first snowfall. Well, maybe not that long, but a little bit longer at least.
